A Family Curse [Harry Potter; English]
Title: A Family Curse
Rating: PG
Genre: Genfic / introspection
Characters: Susan Bones
Summary: Susan's past might come back to haunt her future.
Notes: For
livii, who asked for Hufflepuffs. :)
Susan's family included a lot of dead people.
She knew that this wasn't unusual in her generation. She knew that most of her classmates had relatives who had been killed by Death Eaters, or who had fought against them, or both. But that didn't change anything. The knowledge that she wasn't the only one didn't make it any better when she heard stories about her grandparents, about Uncle Edgar... about his children. It certainly didn't make it any better when his murderer escaped, although it helped her understand Harry a little more.
It was her family, no one else's; so it didn't matter that she was just one among many. She still had more dead relatives than living ones. She was supposed to have grandparents. She was supposed to have cousins.
She was supposed to have Aunt Amelia. Such a strong woman, honest and fair – a perfect role model. Susan had always wanted to follow her footseps one day.
When Amelia was murdered too, as if following an old family tradition, Susan couldn't help but wonder if she was going to be the next one herself.
