Storytelling
Cerberus stretched and yawned, making himself even more comfortable on his spot near the window. It was one of those warm, sunny days that seemed made to be spent doing absolutely nothing. He hadn't done anything useful in the whole morning, and he was quite proud of it, too. Besides, Yue couldn't scold him, not this time. The Moon Guardian was curled up on Clow's armchair since breakfast, immersed in one of his books.
He couldn't help but wonder what was up with people and reading lately. It was to be expected from boring Yue, of course, and from Clow, who had the strangest hobbies in the world. He'd never have guessed that the Mokonas would end up showing that interest, though. And yet, they spent hours upon hours in the library. Even now, when the wizard left them alone to do whatever they wanted while he prepared lunch, they had asked him to borrow one of his books.
So here they were, sitting on the floor in the middle of the room, pointing at pictures of flowers and stopping to mention the ones they could find in the garden. Given the amount and variety of Clow's plants, this was quickly getting very boring. It called for an intervention. Cerberus tilted his head a little, to get a better look at the illustrations; perhaps they'd give him an idea.
"Tropical orchids," Soel read aloud. "Look! There are so many!"
"Clow has some of these too!" Larg replied.
"You know," Cerberus said, "they're actually carnivore."
They both looked up at that, but the expression on their faces wasn't the one he'd been aiming for. They looked more curious than scared.
"What's 'carnivore'?"
Oh, this was going to be good.
"It means they eat meat," he explained. "You know, animals, people. Magical creatures."
"What?"
"Really?"
"Sure," he went on. "Orchids have really powerful magic. They can capture and eat anything they want. A lot of explorers died in the jungle because the flowers ate them."
Now the Mokonas started to look doubtful. Perhaps he'd overdone it, he thought. These little ones were smarter than they seemed.
"But the book doesn't say that," Larg pointed out.
"If they were dangerous," Soel added, "it would warn people about it."
"Well, that's just a regular gardening book, that's why it doesn't say anything," Cerberus improvised, trying to keep his face straight. It was getting more difficult by the second. "If it was a magical book, it would say so."
"Is that true?" they asked, now even more suspicious. But he wouldn't give up.
"Of course it's true. Ask Yue."
Under normal circumstances, just mentioning the Moon Guardian's name was enough to settle an argument. The Mokonas considered Yue's word almost sacred, so the mere hint that he would agree with Cerberus made the lion right in their eyes. Unfortunately, this time he chose that exact moment to look up at last and take part in the conversation.
"Ask me what?"
Soel and Larg turned around and moved next to him in a single bounce.
"Do orchids kill people?"
"Do they eat explorers?"
Yue let out a long sigh and gave his brother a Look. Cerberus tried to look as innocent as possible, just in case the twins turned around and saw him, and covered his mouth with a paw to hide his smile.
"Why do you tell them these things?" Yue asked. The Mokonas looked up at him, relieved.
"You mean it's not true?"
"No, it isn't. Orchids have never killed explorers," he replied, and turned his gaze to his book once again. Then he added, "They only eat magical creatures."
Cerberus nearly choked as he tried to hold back a snort. Soel and Larg, on the contrary, looked terrified again.
"But Clow wouldn't have something so dangerous in his garden!"
"Yeah! It could hurt you too!"
Yue's expression didn't change in the slightest.
"We aren't small enough," he told them.
This time Cerberus had to leave the room so they wouldn't see his wild grin.

Clow had that expression that made it obvious he was trying very, very hard not to be amused. He was managing pretty well so far, Cerberus had to admit that; one could almost believe he was serious. While the Mokonas bounced around the garden as usual, the wizard poured himself a glass of lemonade and sat at the small table on the gallery. He rested his chin on his hands as he looked at the Guardians.
"You wouldn't happen to know," he began, "why Soel and Larg are making such great efforts to avoid getting near my orchids, would you?"
Perhaps Yue would have pulled off a believable innocent look, but Cerberus just had to laugh at that. He'd been holding that back for too long. His brother glared at him, but didn't deny his involvement in the issue.
"Ah," Clow said mildly, "I supposed so."
There was a moment of uncomfortable silence, and then Yue spoke.
"Are you angry at us?"
"I really should," the wizard replied. Then his mask cracked and he couldn't hide his grin anymore. "But first, I'd have to hear the whole story, right?"
Cerberus grinned back at him.
"It was my idea!"

Oh God, tears of laughter. It was expected from Kero, but Yue played along too? Hilarious! I could so imagine the faces of everyone; the shock and desbelieve in the Mokonas, Kero's grins, Yue's deadpan, Clow's not-really-amused,-really, so on X3

Yue needs to be in more humour fics. He's so trustworthy, he could get away with pretty much anything.
