etrangere.
“So you got married,” Yuuko mused, playing with the glass of wine in her hand. “How did that ever happen?”
“Well, it's a very long story,” he replied, “but if you're interested...”
“Oh, I've heard the story,” she interrupted him. “I was simply wondering how could such a sensible person as your Sophie ever consider marrying you, Howell.”
He must have been truly in love, the witch thought, because he didn't even scowl at that.
“Just so you know, Yuuko, I make a very good husband.”
“Just like you make a very good anything else, I suppose,” she said, rolling her eyes at him. “Wizards and their egos...”
“Now you do sound like Sophie,” he muttered.
“Ah, but I couldn't tell, could I? You haven't introduced us yet,” Yuuko said, with a suspicious look.
“Oh, well, she's always very busy,” he said. “And she doesn't really like travelling...”
“You're such a bad liar,” she told him, smirking. “I can only think of one reason why you haven't brought her along in your visits yet, and it's tht you're just too scared to have both of us in the same room.”
Howl smoothly (but still obviously) changed the subject.
