helga_b. This one ended up as an AU of sorts...
“For the last time,” McGonagall told him, glaring at him over her glasses, “we are simply trying to make the mice Vanish. There is no need to waste time and magic giving your mouse Ravenclaw colours.”
“But, Professor... surely you don't mind a bit of creativity, right?” Sokka replied with a grin. His natural charm never worked with her, though. She looked just as stern as ever.
“I wouldn't mind if you actually bothered to do the assigned exercise after your little games. But I haven't seen you Vanish a single mouse so far. Don't think I haven't noticed.”
He sulked and muttered Evanesco, waving his wand lazily. The mouse's body disappeared, but its tail and whiskers still twitched in the air.
“Honestly,” McGonagall sighed, “I fail to see the amazing talent Professor Flitwick keeps mentioning. Perhaps you should pay as much attention in my class as you do in his.”
Well, that was just the thing, Sokka thought to himself. He did. It wasn't exactly as if he spent his Charms lessons doing what Flitwick told him to. A true Ravenclaw ran free wherever his mind took him...
“You haven't vanished that mouse yet,” she warned him.
... oh, well. Maybe he was just meant to be a misunderstood genius.
