Just out of curiousity, what is The Solitaire Mystery? I have not heard of it before; what's it like?

First, a warning: the last few people who asked this ended up buying it. Just so you know. ;)

It's a book by Jostein Gaarder (the author of Sophie's World, but TSM is more novel and less textbook) and one of those story-within-a-story novels. The main plot is about a twelve-year-old boy who travels across Europe with his dad to find his mother, who left them to "find herself" and became a model in Greece. Along the way, someone gives him a tiny book about a man who got stranded on a deserted island with nothing but a deck of cards.

Then the stories start to parallel each other, and there's a lot of talk about philosophy, ancient Greece, and solitaire. ♥

(Also, reading it with CCS in mind is... interesting.)
