He wondered, not for the first time that day, who had been the genius who had thought of this madness.

He wasn't too fond of acting, to begin with; but to do so in a dress was even worse. And not any dress, either- a fairy dress.

How had this happened? He couldn't be dressed exactly like Mihara and Yanagisawa... it had to be a bad dream...

Another boy's yells startled him and proved him that he was very much awake.

At least, he thought, he wasn't having it as bad as Li. He shuddered to think of what could have happened if Daidouji had designed his fairy costume, and decided that Li had every right to yell.

Soon the play began, and he didn't have enough time to worry before it was his turn to enter. He was sure that, standing between quiet Yanagisawa and natural Mihara, it would be twice as obvious how nervous he was. That didn't make it any better. He stuttered his line and hoped he hadn't been too terrible.

Yamazaki's grand entrance startled him out of his worries. Nobody had expected him to be such an enthusiastic witch... even Mihara looked surprised!

Now the three fairies left the stage for a while, so he had the chance to try to calm down a little. He was distracted again, though- now it was the princess who entered the scene.

If his acting had been terrible, there were no words for Li's. The poor boy seemed about to self-combust any minute.

Soon the fairies had to show up again; thankfully, he didn't have to talk too much, and in no time he was safely out of the stage. Now it was Kinomoto who would have the most difficult role.

She was quite good at it, he noticed (even if Yamazaki's death scene overshadowed everything else), and she didn't seem too uncomfortable in her prince costume.

How she managed to say that Li was a beautiful princess and still remain natural was a mystery to him. But Kinomoto had done a good job, up to the moment when she had to pretend to kiss Li...

...then, all of a sudden, she hugged the boy as if she hadn't seen him in years.

Being hugged, in front of a crowd, while dressed up as a princess? At least, he thought yet again, he wasn't having it as bad as Li.
